MUSC MyChart Benefits and Features

In August of 2017, MyChart got a new and improved look. Even though MyChart may look different to you, please be assured that you’re still reaching the same MyChart account you previously had with MUSC Health. The functionality is all still the same with a few improvements.

The purpose of the features in MUSC MyChart is to enhance patient engagement, streamline healthcare management, and improve communication between patients and their healthcare providers. All things considered, the goals of these features are to improve overall healthcare outcomes, encourage proactive patient care, and improve the patient experience.

Here are the main purposes of its key benefits and features:

Confirm your upcoming appointments and receive reminders

Users can easily confirm their scheduled appointments through the MyChart interface. This helps ensure that both the patient and the healthcare provider are aware of the appointment details. MUSC MyChart sends reminders via email or text, which helps patients remember their upcoming appointments. These reminders can be customized based on user preferences, ensuring that patients receive notifications in a timely manner.

View your health records

The records are organized in a clear and easy-to-navigate format, allowing patients to find specific information quickly. Patients can monitor changes in their health over time, such as lab results or medication effectiveness, helping them stay informed about their health status.

Request medication refills

MUSC MyChart allows patients to manage their prescriptions conveniently and efficiently. Once the request is submitted, users receive confirmation and can track the status of their refill. Notifications may be sent when the refill is approved or when it’s ready for pickup at the pharmacy.

Communicate with your care team

MUSC MyChart allows patients to connect with their healthcare providers easily and securely. Users can select specific providers or team members to message, whether it’s a primary care physician, specialist, or nursing staff. Improved Care Coordination: By facilitating direct communication, this feature enhances collaboration among care team members, leading to better patient outcomes.

Pay your bills online

Patients can choose to pay their bills directly through the portal using a credit or debit card. They can also select the amount they wish to pay, whether it’s the full balance or a partial payment. Comes with payment flexibility, patients can choose how much to pay, making it easier to manage their finances according to their individual circumstances.

Telehealth Services

Offers flexibility and accessibility for patients to receive care remotely, making healthcare more convenient and accessible, especially for those with mobility or transportation issues.

Sign up proxy access for caregivers, through MUSC’s MyChart team

MUSC MyChart allows caregivers to manage healthcare information for patients who may need assistance, such as children or individuals with certain medical conditions.

How It Works:

  1. Requesting Proxy Access: Caregivers can request proxy access through MUSC’s MyChart team. This typically involves filling out a form that provides necessary details about both the patient and the caregiver.
  2. Verification Process: The MUSC MyChart team verifies the request to ensure that the caregiver is authorized to access the patient’s information. This is done in compliance with privacy regulations.
  3. Access Granted: Once approved, the caregiver receives access to the patient’s MyChart account, allowing them to view health records, manage appointments, and communicate with healthcare providers on behalf of the patient.
  4. Managing Multiple Accounts: Caregivers can often manage access for multiple patients if needed, making it easier to coordinate care for family members or others they assist.
